I think this is a great post because it does offer another look at Locker instead of the constant berating of his skills coming from all the draft analysts. I appreciate that he was candid and honest in his interview with Van Pelt, but I'm also worried that he has admitted that he needs to work harder on studying tape and getting his footwork better. I think he should be concentrated on both and not have to admit he is deficient at either, especially with the overcritical scouts and general managers in the league looking at every flaw a quarterback could possess. Also, in regards to Jay Cutler I totally agree with Locker having the same arm and similar athleticism, but I think Locker's accuracy is completely incomparable to Cutler's. Although Locker started four seasons at Washington, he only completed an average of 53.7 percent of his passes, a terrible number for a team looking to draft a franchise NFL quarterback. Cutler completed around 60 percent of his passes, so I appreciate Locker being so honest and a much nicer guy than Cutler, but I'm skeptical if that attitude will actually translate into success at the NFL level or if he'll fall victim to his inaccuracy problems and become a bust.

I think they are more similar than you think. What NFL QB would you rather compare Locker too? Because for me Cutler is who I think of. Im also a Bronco fan and may be biased...

Hi, I've just read your article. I have watched Jake Locker the last 5 years he was at UW. His play is inconsistent but you can't deny the intangibles this guys has. He is very likeable, in fact, he is a very big sporting figure in Seattle. He achieved this not because of his records (in terms of wins and losses) but because of his character and attitude. If you want a QB that will work hard then not a lot of QBs can out work Jake. To be honest, I really don't understand the comparison between him and Jay Cutler other than maybe physically. Even that, I doubt. I think Jay Cutler is a much better QB at this point between the two, but please don't compare Jake to Cutler.
