Mike Shanahan Benches McNabb For Good

And the 2011 edition of “Let’s Find a Quarterback” starts.  Mike Shanahan has announced that Donovan McNabb will NOT be playing this weekend and will be inactive for the final two games.

Mike Shanahan did the same thing back when he was the coach of the Broncos, benching Jake Plummer six games into the 2006-2007 season for Jay Cutler.  The Broncos did well with that swap with Cutler eventually maturing into a Pro Bowl player but what is the plan in Washington right now?!! The Redskins only other options on the current roster are John Beck and Rex Grossman.  Not exactly the filet mingot of passers.

You definitely will see the Redskins acquire a passer via trade or draft this offseason.  Their pick is not high enough to get Andrew Luck or Cam Newton, but Jake Locker and or Ryan Mallet will be on the board. In the trade market maybe NFC rival will give them a shot at Kevin Kolb. You never know.

What we do know is that McNabb is done, and we will see him in Minnesota, Arizona, or Oakland next year!
